Reader terms
Effective October 5, 2026
Who we are
Wrought Press is run by Wrought Industries, LLC, an Arizona company ("we", "us"). These terms apply when you accept a book to read as a paid reader. Questions go to [email protected].
The role
When we offer you a book and you accept it, you agree to:
- Read the full manuscript within three weeks.
- Pass a short quiz showing you read it.
- Write an honest report.
- Vote on whether it should be published.
Vote your honest opinion. Your payment never depends on how you vote.
Payment
- You earn $125 per book once you've passed the quiz, sent your report and voted. All three are needed.
- If you don't pass the quiz, there's no payment for that book.
- We pay within 30 days of your vote, by the method you chose when you applied (PayPal, Venmo or another we agree on).
- You're an independent reader, not an employee. You're responsible for any taxes on what you earn, and we may ask for tax details when the law requires it.
Deadlines
You have three weeks from when you receive the manuscript. If you can't make it, tell us before the deadline and we'll work it out with you case by case. If you stop partway through or miss the deadline without an arrangement, there's no payment for that book.
Confidentiality
The manuscript and your role are confidential. That means you must not:
- Share, copy, post or upload any part of the manuscript, including into AI tools or other apps.
- Discuss its story or contents with anyone except us.
- Say publicly that you're a Wrought Press reader for a book, or which book you read.
If you break confidentiality, you're removed from the panel and aren't paid for that book. We may also go to court for an order (an injunction) to stop further sharing, and seek any other remedy the law allows.
Your report
You keep writing credit for your report, but by sending it you allow us to:
- Share it, without your name, with that book's author.
- Quote short parts of it publicly, without your name, for example on the book's page or in ads.
We never publish your name or say who read a book.
Ending
You can stop being a reader at any time by telling us. We can stop offering you books at any time. Anything you've already earned under these terms is still paid, except where confidentiality was broken.
Your information
How we handle your details is covered in our privacy policy.
Changes and law
If we change these terms, we'll update this page and the date at the top. A change never applies to a book you've already accepted. These terms are governed by the laws of Arizona.
